About the position

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment. Your primary responsibility will be to build great teams by ensuring they have the necessary resources, tools, and training to excel in their roles. You will collaborate closely with Product Management to define the product vision and effectively communicate it to all stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across the organization. In this role, you will work alongside product managers and product owners to manage the product roadmap and groom the backlog, ensuring that the teams are well-informed about product direction, priorities, requirements, and customer perspectives. You will also collaborate with the architecture team to evolve the product in response to market and technology demands, ensuring that engineering processes are established and adhered to, leading to high-quality and timely execution and delivery of products. Your leadership will be crucial in developing and deploying new features, upgrades, and fixes that are prioritized in the backlog. You will participate in PI and Sprint Planning, release coordination, and daily Scrum meetings, helping software engineers navigate both technical and process challenges. As a leader, you will provide guidance and coaching to inspire team members to achieve their optimum performance and foster their career development.

Responsibilities

  • Build great teams and ensure they have the proper resources, tools, and training to get the job done well
  • Collaborate with Product Management in defining the product vision and communicate it to stakeholders
  • Work with product manager and product owner to manage the Roadmap and groom the Backlog
  • Ensure teams understand product direction, priorities, requirements, and customer perspective
  • Collaborate with Architecture to evolve the product as necessary to meet market and technology demands
  • Ensure proper engineering processes exist and are followed leading to high quality and timely execution and delivery
  • Provide leadership in developing and deploying new features, upgrades, and fixes that are prioritized in the Backlog
  • Participate in PI and Sprint Planning and release coordination
  • Participate in daily Scrum Meetings
  • Help software engineers resolve both technical as well as process challenges
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching - inspiring team members to achieve their optimum performance and career development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related degree
  • Seven years of related experience in a software development environment
  • Three years of experience leading scrum/agile software engineering teams in planning, design, development, release cycle, and delivering products to market
  • Superb communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills
  • Effectively deals with changes in priority and ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self-starter
  • Effectively manages own time and ensures team has required resources and training
  • Demonstrated ability to think, evaluate, and solve complex technical problems
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge status quo and drive process improvement
  • Working knowledge and experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment, pipelines, and automation
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Understands business mission and strategies and aligns with product strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, avoid, and manage risk appropriately
  • Demonstrated ability to increase customer satisfaction and improve relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate and develop contractual artifacts
  • Experience with continuous improvement processes and lean principles
