About the position

Minitab is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of their engineering team at the State College, PA headquarters. The role focuses on fostering a culture of learning, ensuring effective communication within project teams, and implementing best practices for product quality and maintainability. The manager will play a key role in strategic planning and will be responsible for driving collaboration and delivering outstanding products to customers.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the development of engineers and promote a culture of learning.
• Ensure effective communication within and across project teams.
• Identify and remove barriers to efficient product development.
• Evaluate and implement development best practices to support product quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Provide input into planning activities related to Software Engineering, including strategic, operational, and product planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Sciences and Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in designing and developing robust, scalable, and high-performance solutions in a commercial software environment.
• Minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Proven experience managing technical compliance issues including security and accessibility.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience across desktop, web, and cloud-based solutions.
• Proven experience with internationalization and localization of applications.
• Technical knowledge in object-oriented design/programming, design patterns, and architectural patterns.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or Amazon ECS.
• Knowledge of statistics and machine learning.
