About the position

The Software Engineering Manager at observIQ will lead and grow a talented engineering team while overseeing the technical direction and execution of projects. This role involves mentoring team members and contributing to the development of innovative software solutions for a diverse customer base, utilizing technologies such as Node.js, Go, Java, Google Cloud, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Manage and prioritize the team's work, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet business goals.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of our software products, working closely with product managers and designers.
  • Ensure engineering best practices, including code quality, security, and scalability.
  • Drive technical decision-making and provide guidance on architecture and technology stack choices.
  • Actively participate in hiring, onboarding, and professional development of team members.
  • Communicate progress, challenges, and updates to key stakeholders regularly.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager or in a similar leadership role.
  • Strong background in software development with proficiency in technologies like Node.js, Go, Typescript, Google Cloud, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience managing a team of engineers in an agile environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure), microservices architecture, and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to balance technical responsibilities with people management and mentorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
