About the position

The Software Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in leading a team of software engineers within a high-growth and innovative IT company located in the Columbus Metropolitan Area, OH. This position is designed for a highly-skilled individual who can provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching to a diverse team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers. The manager will be responsible for guiding the team through basic to moderately complex tasks, ensuring that they are aligned with the company's strategic initiatives and goals. In this role, the Software Engineering Manager will be accountable for making decisions that influence the team's resources, budget, and tactical operations. This includes the execution and implementation of processes and procedures that enhance operational efficiencies. The manager will also ensure successful collaboration across various teams and stakeholders, identifying and mitigating issues that may arise during project execution. Additionally, the manager will provide valuable input to leadership regarding budget considerations, technical approaches, and strategies to improve the functionality of the team. A key aspect of this position is fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect among team members. Responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers.
  • Accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Ensure successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary.
  • Provide input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team.
  • Create a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritize diverse representation.

Requirements

  • Experience leading teams of technologists.
  • Ability to guide and coach teams on approaches to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives.
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
  • In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems.
  • Practical cloud-native experience.
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines.

  • Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture, design across all systems.
  • Experience working at the code level.
