About the position

The Software Engineering Manager at Lockheed Martin is responsible for leading a team of 20 to 30 engineers in the development and management of software solutions for complex engineering problems. This role involves overseeing system performance, managing software deployments, and ensuring the team meets critical schedules while fostering an inclusive and innovative work environment. The manager will also handle administrative duties, recruitment, and team development, while supporting integration and testing activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 20 to 30 engineers, including an Associate Manager overseeing 15 to 20 software engineers.
  • Monitor and address system performance issues and manage software deployments.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop the engineering team with appropriate skill levels and diversity.
  • Provide guidance to staff to meet critical schedules and resolve technical or operational problems.
  • Perform administrative management duties including timecard approval, compliance training, and performance reviews.
  • Own, execute, and status site-level initiatives.
  • Assist and coordinate with the test team for system integration and test activities.
  • Support ad hoc tasking and stretch assignments as outlined by Program leaders.

Requirements

  • 11+ years of professional experience in software engineering or related field.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Top Secret clearance required prior to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in software design, organization, and development.
  • Experience guiding teams in dynamic environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with software configuration management tools such as GIT.
  • Familiarity with managing software across multiple configuration baselines.
  • Experience with servers, network design and protocols, and embedded systems.
  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Software experience in C++, C, Java, or other coding languages.
