About the position

The Software Engineering Manager at OneMain Financial is responsible for overseeing the performance of engineering teams that build and scale digital lending applications. This role involves managing high-performing teams, ensuring the delivery of sound features, and contributing to a culture of success within a hybrid work environment. The manager will interface with company leaders, break down projects into manageable MVPs, and guide team leads in their career development while maintaining a sustainable engineering platform.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the performance of engineering teams and ensure the delivery of sound features.
  • Break down projects into reasonable MVPs.
  • Interface directly with company and technology leaders to align team activities with overall product and company goals.
  • Ensure production applications are stable and operating as expected.
  • Guide team leads along their career paths and provide feedback.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks early in the development process.
  • Contribute to strategic technology planning and assist in prioritizing the product roadmap.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience leading and managing engineering teams, preferably multiple teams.
  • Ability to interface with and influence leaders across an organization.
  • Competency in fostering a culture of success, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Experience with technologies such as IBM iSeries Systems, DB2 Database Platform, Ruby on Rails, Angular, and Middleware (MuleSoft).
  • Experience in guiding the development of observable systems with robust metrics and alerts.
  • Proficiency in overseeing the build and consumption of RESTful APIs.
  • Ability to navigate in a nimble environment and drive success in unknown territory.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
