About the position

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers in Lawton, OK. This role involves designing, building, deploying, and maintaining mission-critical solutions in engineering, spectrum warfare, and defense domains. The manager will be responsible for personnel management, mentoring, and contributing to the lifecycle of customer products while fostering a culture of trust, respect, and creativity within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software engineers, including employee check-ins, performance reviews, hiring, training, and mentoring.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership in developing offensive and defensive cyber tools focused on Radar, C2, surface-to-air missile, and artillery systems.
  • Develop simulations to emulate threat-representative Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) effects and environments.
  • Research current and future cybersecurity threats against military systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance product reliability and team production velocity.
  • Define the technical direction and vision for software products.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and customer liaisons to develop solutions that address customer problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time experience in software engineering.
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in personnel management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive experience with software engineering, including leading software architecture and design processes.
  • Expertise in C++ or Python programming languages.
  • Experience with fundamental networking implementations and concepts.
  • Experience with Agile software development, CI/CD toolchains, and DevOps (e.g., Atlassian suite, git, Jenkins, Artifactory).
  • U.S. citizenship and willingness to relocate to Lawton, OK.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Final Top Secret/SCI Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience analyzing Electronic Warfare/Electronic Protect (EW/EP) systems.
  • Fundamentals in Radar Design and Operations.
