About the position

The Software Engineering Manager Senior at PNC is responsible for leading a team of software engineers across multiple product lines. This role emphasizes talent management, fostering innovation, and ensuring the adoption of current technological trends. The manager will oversee the software engineering life cycle, drive continuous improvement, and provide technical guidance to colleagues. The position is primarily based in one of several PNC locations, with some flexibility for remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of software engineers/managers across multiple product lines.
  • Oversee the talent management of engineering talent, including recruiting, mentoring, and enabling a culture of learning with a focus on engineering craftsmanship.
  • Foster technological innovation, ensuring adoption of current trends, capabilities, and practices emerging in the market.
  • Encourage sound technology choices and drive innovative technology architecture and solution design.
  • Identify issues, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions across multiple product lines.
  • Direct and consult on all phases of the software engineering life cycle and troubleshoot technical problems as needed using agile methods.
  • Lead complex problem solving and resolve workflow problems through automation optimization.
  • Monitor security technology trends and ensure the adaptability of techniques to various system architectures.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development.

Requirements

  • University/college degree; higher education such as a Master's degree or PhD is desirable.
  • 8+ years of industry-relevant experience, with at least 5 years of prior management experience.
  • Proven leadership experience with a moderate to large scope of responsibility.
