About the position

In this role, you will lead a team or teams responsible for delivering technology solutions that align with business needs while satisfying the risk and operational requirements of the Tech organization. Your primary focus will be on identifying and resolving complex technical, operational, risk management, and organizational challenges for a Line of Business (LOB) or several Sub LOBs. You will leverage emerging technologies and automation to enhance business efficiencies, improve the speed-to-market of solution delivery, and support both business and enterprise transformation and optimization. This position entails full management responsibilities for your team members, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions. You will manage a team of full-time employees (FTEs) and both on-shore and off-shore contractors who provide 24x7 production support for various banking applications in the production environment. Your team will utilize monitoring tools to identify client-impacting issues, triage them, escalate as necessary, and resolve them efficiently. You will interface with developers, line of business product owners, and third-party application vendors to ensure seamless support for the applications your team manages. Additionally, you will ensure compliance with change management policies when preparing to implement changes in the production environment. You will review and approve invoices from third-party vendors and direct the engineering and deployment of significant delivery projects, adhering to specified technical requirements, schedules, and budgets, including Agile methodologies. Your responsibilities will also include overseeing the planning, design, engineering, testing, and deployment of application projects, adapting plans to meet service and operational challenges, and maintaining an appropriate risk profile by proactively identifying risks and implementing necessary mitigations. As an Agile champion, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality working software and automating manual tasks. You will oversee software engineering practices, unit testing, and support integration and functional testing, ensuring that developed code meets the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner. The scope of this role will vary based on the size of the budget, headcount, and complexity of the business line and related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team responsible for technology solutions that meet business needs and satisfy risk and operational requirements.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical, operational, risk management, and organizational challenges for an LOB or several Sub LOBs.
  • Leverage emerging technologies and automation to improve business efficiencies and enhance speed-to-market of solution delivery.
  • Manage a team of FTEs and contractors providing 24x7 production support for banking applications.
  • Interface with developers, product owners, and third-party vendors for application support.
  • Ensure compliance with change management policies when moving changes to production.
  • Review and approve invoices from third-party vendors.
  • Direct the engineering and deployment of significant delivery projects according to technical requirements, schedules, and budgets.
  • Oversee planning, design, engineering, testing, and deployment of application projects using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Develop departmental plans based on IT and business objectives.
  • Maintain appropriate risk profile by proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigations.
  • Act as an Agile champion, delivering high-quality software and automating tasks.
  • Oversee software engineering practices and ensure developed code meets acceptance criteria.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and equivalent combination of advanced education and experience, including 8 years in IT software engineering, 5 years in relevant business experience, 5 years in project management, and at least 2 years of management experience.
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of technology trends, regulatory requirements, and IT strategies.
  • Ability to translate enterprise-level strategic planning into software and data management needs.
  • Executive-level communication skills, including negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead complex projects with enterprise-wide implications.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical and operational challenges.
  • Ability to manage the performance of multiple teams against financial and operational objectives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience in software development, including 5 years of management experience.
  • Understanding of multiple approaches to software engineering (SWE).
  • Full understanding of Agile methodology.
  • Experience leading teams in an Agile organization, particularly those practicing DevSecOps.
  • Banking or financial services experience.
  • Knowledge of website support and marketing applications support.
  • Knowledge of internet domain management.
