About the position

At Apple, the Core OS group is dedicated to creating fully integrated operating systems that seamlessly blend hardware, software, and applications into a cohesive user experience. The Power & Performance Engineering Program Management (EPM) team is seeking an experienced Engineering Program Manager to spearhead cross-functional initiatives aimed at enhancing user experience across all Apple platforms. This role is pivotal in driving performance and battery life initiatives for various software and hardware features, necessitating close collaboration with engineering teams to promote best practices and pursue continuous improvements. As the central hub of this initiative, you will proactively engage with feature development teams to ensure the delivery of top-tier performance and power efficiency across our operating systems. Your responsibilities will include gathering and presenting key performance metrics during executive reviews, which will inform critical decision-making processes regarding our operating systems. You will be at the forefront of discussions with various teams to prioritize power and performance requests and to resolve any operating system regressions that may arise. This position requires a dynamic and motivated individual with exceptional communication and organizational skills, capable of influencing a diverse cross-functional audience. Responsibilities

  • Drive proactive engagement with feature development teams to deliver best-in-class performance and power across operating systems.
  • Collate and present key performance metrics at executive reviews to inform critical decisions.
  • Prioritize power and performance requests and drive resolution for operating system regressions.
  • Engage with engineering teams to promote best practices and pursue improvements in performance and battery life initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of program management experience in software, hardware, or silicon development.
  • Excellent spoken and concise written communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence others effectively.
  • Strong understanding of and experience in managing complex, multi-functional software programs.
  • Sound technical foundation and a highly motivated self-starter.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
