As a Software Engineering Section Lead/Manager, you will be an integral part of our Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Systems team. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the culture and processes within our software engineering team while ensuring that we meet the staffing and technical needs of our business. In this role, you will manage a team of 10 to 15 software engineers located in New Hampshire, providing them with technical mentoring, career guidance, and performance feedback. You will collaborate closely with other product area leads to set the technical direction for our products and drive software engineering initiatives across the organization. Your responsibilities will include conducting architecture and design reviews, leading strategic initiatives, and participating in bid and proposal development. You will also be involved in planning next-generation solutions that align with both your skills and career aspirations. As a leader, you will guide engineers in their career advancement and promote best practices in software development. This hybrid position allows for a flexible work environment, with a mix of onsite and remote work, tailored to project needs. The remote work percentage will be less than 50%, ensuring that you remain engaged with your team and projects. Qualified candidates will possess a strong background in software architectures, industry best practices, and emerging technologies, making this a pivotal role in our mission to protect those who protect us.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 10 to 15 software engineers, providing technical mentoring and career guidance.
  • Conduct architecture and design reviews to ensure software solutions meet customer expectations.
  • Lead strategic initiatives and participate in bid and proposal development.
  • Set the technical direction for products in collaboration with other product area leads.
  • Drive software engineering initiatives and best practices across the organization.
  • Guide engineers in their career advancement and professional development.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 12+ years of experience in developing complex software systems.
  • Experience in leading software teams in a functional and/or technical role.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide individuals through complicated situations effectively.
  • Experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice-to-haves

  • Embedded software design and implementation experience.
  • Knowledge of Software Defined Radios and communication protocols.
  • Foundational knowledge of DevSecOps practices.
  • Deep knowledge in programming languages such as C++, Rust, and C.
  • Experience with Embedded Linux development and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Familiarity with open standards like Software Communications Architecture (SCA) and Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE).
