The software engineering group at Juniper Networks is responsible for designing, developing, building, qualifying, and releasing software and networking products. This group comprises highly skilled professionals who deliver production-grade quality releases and products through agile and adaptive engineering methodologies. The role of Software Engineering Senior Manager is crucial as it involves leading and managing a team of skilled professional engineers in qualifying solutions and use-cases for Juniper customers. This position requires a highly skilled technical professional with exemplary leadership qualities to meet business objectives. As a decision-maker, the Senior Manager will be responsible for planning project work, managing the professional team, promoting best practices, hiring talented professionals, and maximizing the potential of direct-report employees.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the execution and delivery of product/software solutions by managing and leading a team of skilled professional engineers.
  • Work closely with the team to strategize and execute on delivering production-grade solutions across market segments.
  • Gather requirements, implement, and deliver committed scope meeting release schedules without compromising quality.
  • Identify and allocate resources including human resources, tools, techniques, and equipment based on KPI metrics.
  • Optimize CAPEX/OPEX during project delivery, extending for future use in regressions.
  • Guide the team in building test plans based on specifications and customer use-cases across segments.
  • Own functional qualifications from inception to production in regression.
  • Educate the team on goals and business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with the team.
  • Stay up to date on product roadmaps, specifications, performance criteria, and competitors' solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, architects, and executives.
  • Work closely with Juniper product development and business unit architecture teams to understand product/feature requirements and solutions in alignment with customer business/network priorities.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leadership to understand business objectives and translate them into project deliverables.
  • Highlight and brainstorm emerging technologies and customer use cases for product deliverables.
  • Make critical decisions that contribute to the success of the product and solution.
  • Work with stakeholders to review project and execution plans.
  • Define entry and exit criteria for each phase of the project.
  • Identify and have mitigation plans for identified risks.
  • Consolidate and project project deliverables at preset regular intervals.
  • Gather and consolidate deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Project and report deliverables to all stakeholders.
  • Identify and manage risks.
  • Influence and maintain high morale by motivating engineers to deliver to their maximum potential.
  • Lead by example, influencing and building trust among the team.
  • Reward and recognize talented individuals.
  • Provide technical guidance on career development.
  • Build and expand the team by hiring talented professional engineers.
  • Identify subject matter experts for specific areas.
