About the position

As a Wavelogic modem control software development intern at Ciena, you will engage in the design and development of next-generation network solutions, working closely with experienced professionals. This role emphasizes hands-on experience with optical transport and switching technologies, as well as the development of web-based applications. Responsibilities

• Develop understanding and expertise in next-gen network solutions using optical transport and switching technologies.
• Develop, implement and test web-based applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and other web technologies.
• Troubleshoot and fix reported issues with front-end software, identifying root causes, diagnosing, debugging, and delivering robust timely fixes.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to design, develop, and test front-end solutions for next-gen modem technologies.

Requirements

• Working towards completion of Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Experience building front-end applications using HTML, JSON, CSS, JavaScript, and Python.
• Good knowledge of web-based front-end solutions for embedded systems using REST APIs and YANG data model.
• Positive work attitude, highly motivated, and an ability to seek out answers with a willingness to learn and work independently.
• Strong verbal and technical writing skills.
• Ability to collaborate well in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Linux as a software development environment.
• Familiarity with design and development tools such as Git, Eclipse, JIRA, Confluence, and Yocto.
• Knowledge of YANG modeling language and toolchains.
• Experience with automation and testing.
