About the position
The Software Development Engineer position at Amazon Web Services (AWS) focuses on building scalable digital security systems that are integral to AWS services. This role involves creating, managing, and deploying cryptographic services that enhance security and compliance for customers. The engineer will work within a new AWS service team, contributing to innovative solutions in cloud computing and ensuring operational excellence in software development practices.
Responsibilities
- Building a scalable digital security system that is core to all AWS services.
- Owning the definition of best practices for the software development lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, and operational characteristics.
- Automating and improving a scalable digital security service that is core to AWS customers and other AWS services.
- Driving prioritization of deployment and operational issues in the technology stack for one of the most secure and reliable services in AWS.
- Owning operational metrics and support for the team's software.
- Reinforcing and extending Amazon Leadership Principles across AWS and Amazon.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
