About the position

As a Software QA Analyst at Oceaneering International, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products through comprehensive testing methodologies. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements, design test cases, and execute test plans to identify defects and ensure the highest level of product quality. Your expertise in both manual and automation testing, as well as test case development, will be instrumental in delivering robust and user-friendly software solutions. In this position, you will be involved in various aspects of software testing, including test planning and strategy, where you will work with product managers and development teams to define comprehensive test plans. You will design test strategies that encompass scope, approach, resources, and schedule estimation to ensure thorough test coverage. Additionally, you will create detailed and well-structured test cases based on functional specifications and user stories, while also maintaining test case repositories to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness. Your role will also include executing manual test cases to validate software functionality, performance, usability, and compatibility across different platforms and environments. You will be responsible for identifying, isolating, documenting, and tracking software defects using bug tracking tools like Jira, and collaborating with development teams to resolve issues. Furthermore, you will conduct regression testing to ensure the stability of software releases and verify that new features do not adversely impact existing functionalities. As part of your responsibilities, you will also develop and document scalable automated testing suites, convert manual tests to automated tests, and continuously monitor and evaluate testing processes to identify areas for improvement. This position is based in the U.S. and may be remote or hybrid, with core working hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Central Time.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers and development teams to understand project requirements and define comprehensive test plans.
  • Design test strategies, including scope, approach, resources, and schedule estimation, to ensure thorough test coverage.
  • Identify and prioritize test cases based on risk analysis and business impact.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test cases and test scenarios based on functional specifications and user stories.
  • Define test data and environment setup requirements for effective test execution.
  • Maintain test case repositories and ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
  • Execute manual test cases to validate software functionality, performance, usability, and compatibility across different platforms and environments.
  • Identify, isolate, document, and track software defects using bug tracking tools (Jira) and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
  • Perform ad-hoc testing as needed to uncover unexpected behaviors and usability issues.
  • Conduct regression testing to ensure the stability of software releases and verify that new features and enhancements do not adversely impact existing functionalities.
  • Automate repetitive manual test cases where applicable to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in peer reviews of test cases, test plans, and other testing artifacts to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate testing processes and methodologies to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Develop and document scalable automated testing suites.
  • Convert manual tests to automated tests.
  • Develop, document, run, and report on automatic tests.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with software testing methodologies, best practices, test automation, using tools like Cucumber, REST-assured, Selenium, Postman etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Able to perform cross-browser/load/performance testing automatically.
  • Must be fluent in the English language.
  • Must be based in the U.S. and available to work core hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Central Time.
