About the position

We are seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team at a well-known personal finance company. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web and/or mobile testing for consumer-facing products, with a focus on ensuring product reliability and quality through comprehensive testing strategies and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues to gain a thorough understanding of the product's functionality and overarching purpose.
  • Utilize insights to develop comprehensive test documentation and strategy.
  • Use documentation and networking tools to determine whether bugs are caused by the server or client.
  • Identify and document clear steps to reproduce bugs and work with the team to prioritize test cases.
  • Collaborate closely with Developers, Product Managers, and QA team to clarify inconsistencies between specifications, test cases, and product behavior.
  • Make recommendations to improve product reliability, performance, and quality assurance best practices and processes.
  • Expand and improve automation scripts created in Maestro and Cypress frameworks.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and enter reproducible application issues into Jira.
  • Investigate and evaluate new testing technologies and products for web and mobile applications.

Requirements

  • 3+ years professional experience of web and/or mobile testing for a consumer-facing product.
  • API expertise (REST) on how the client communicates to/from servers.
  • Experience maintaining and updating test plans/test suites in a very fast paced feature changing environment.
  • Ability to think outside of the box and beyond the obvious to uncover behind-the-scenes type bugs.
  • Experience with at least 2 of the following: JavaScript, Selenium, Cypress, Appium, Java, and Jenkins.
  • Act as a strong advocate for quality in the product development process.
  • Experience with defect tracking software (Jira).
  • Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
  • BS/MS in computer science or equivalent work experience.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $45-55/hr. W2
  • Onsite work 2 days/week in Menlo Park, CA
