About the position

As a Software QA Engineer at Tesla, you will play a crucial role in validating Autopilot features on the journey towards Unsupervised Full Self-Driving. This position involves close collaboration with the development team to ensure the quality and performance of new and existing features, directly impacting customer experiences worldwide. The role requires flexibility in work hours to accommodate collaboration with teams across different time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate features for Tesla's Autopilot, including Full Self-Driving, Autosteer, Autopark, and Smart Summon.
  • Maintain existing tooling, automation, and simulation code, and propose new validation requirements.
  • Perform functional, stress, and performance tests across various system levels, including vehicle software simulation and in-vehicle testing.
  • Utilize Tesla's telemetry pipeline to monitor Autopilot performance in the field.
  • Identify effective test strategies for new and existing features and create corresponding test plans.
  • Analyze issues detected during tests or reported by others, collaborating with firmware developers to resolve them.
  • Review system requirements for testability and ensure compliance with federal and internal standards.
  • Create data visualizations and metrics to report on testing outcomes.

Requirements

  • Solid coding skills in Python or C++.
  • Strong English communication skills (CEFR C1 level minimum).
  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Several years of experience in feature validation in automotive, aerospace, nautical, robotic systems, or consumer electronics hardware/software.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting at both software and hardware levels.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience testing ADAS features or computer vision systems.
  • Strong validation and test-automation experience from other fields.
