About the position

The Software QA Engineer at X-Rite Pantone is responsible for ensuring the quality of software products throughout the development process. This role involves both manual and automated testing, collaboration with various teams, and continuous improvement of testing methodologies. The engineer will also handle customer support for bug reporting and participate in agile teams to provide feedback on software design.

Responsibilities

  • Testing software products manually and automatically to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Reviewing user stories and technical specifications to create test plans in collaboration with R&D engineers and product marketing.
  • Continuously improving testing methodologies and tools.
  • Testing software that interacts with hardware products.
  • Reporting, documenting, and organizing issues found within the software.
  • Documenting testing procedures and their application to software and hardware.
  • Contributing to the release process, including documentation and distribution of release notes.
  • Collaborating with software engineering teams, product marketing, sales, application engineers, and customers to identify functional and workflow issues.
  • Providing third-line support for customers, including bug reporting and troubleshooting with Application and Software Engineers.
  • Managing product alpha and beta test programs, working directly with customers.
  • Participating in agile/scrum teams and providing feedback on software design and scheduling.
  • Documenting usage and contributing to the knowledge database.
  • Creating, implementing, executing, and guarding optimized processes, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of MS Windows operating system and Windows desktop applications; knowledge of Apple Mac OS preferred.
  • General interest in IT, Software, and Software Engineering.
  • Knowledge of color science, color quality, and color formulation preferred.
  • Understanding of software testing theory, application, and tools.
  • Experience with test automation and automation tools (e.g., TestComplete).
  • Experience with Jira for issue/bug tracking and project management.
  • Experience participating in agile/scrum teams.
