About the position

As a Software QA Engineer at Deseret Book Company, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software products. This role involves collaborating with development and product teams to identify issues, execute test plans, and contribute to the overall improvement of software solutions. A strong understanding of QA methodologies and excellent problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for various software applications.
  • Perform manual and automated testing to identify bugs, defects, and performance issues.
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure thorough testing coverage.
  • Conduct regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
  • Document and track defects, providing detailed reports and working with the development team to resolve issues.
  • Help establish and maintain a knowledge base for tested products.
  • Provide feedback on software quality and usability.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of QA processes and methodologies.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies to ensure the highest level of quality assurance.
  • Help mentor and train junior QA personnel.
  • Experience in writing and updating documentation related to QA processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance testing.
  • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Proficiency in manual testing and experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, BrowserStack, Postman).
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Ruby, Python, or Javascript.
  • Experience with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
  • Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs).
  • Order Management (Salesforce), Warehouse/Inventory Management, POS Software (NewStore) experience is highly desired.
