About the position

The Software QA Engineer at FORTNA plays a crucial role within the Software Engineering Team, working under the guidance of the Software QA Manager. This position is integral to the Software delivery organization, focusing on the development and execution of test plans that ensure the quality and technical performance of Warehouse Execution Systems (WES) Software. The role involves verifying the integration of WES with third-party systems and host systems, as well as controlling functionality between FortnaWES and the actual material handling equipment. The Software QA Engineer will follow the Fortna Agile Scrum Process, collaborating closely with a Scrum team that includes a Scrum Master, Development Lead, and Software Development Engineers. In this position, the Software QA Engineer will review project documents such as Software Specification Scope (SSS), Technical Design Documents, and Product Release documents to establish testing objectives. They will develop comprehensive test plans and test cases that align with established quality assurance standards. The role requires executing various types of testing, including Functional, System/e2e, Integration, and release regression testing, all while adhering to Agile methodologies and timelines. Additionally, the Software QA Engineer will maintain test environments, oversee deployments, and create master data for system testing. Documentation is a key aspect of this role, as the Software QA Engineer will meticulously document all issues encountered during testing and communicate effectively with Scrum team members to ensure timely resolution. They will also assist the QA Manager in generating test project status reports and metrics, such as a Test Dashboard. Furthermore, the Software QA Engineer will develop interface testing plans to validate that system interfaces meet mapping specifications and maintain automated regression suites for reuse during phased go-lives and software modifications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans for Warehouse Execution Systems (WES) Software.
  • Verify integration with third-party systems and host systems.
  • Control functionality between FortnaWES and material handling equipment.
  • Review project documents to determine testing objectives.
  • Develop test plans and test cases that meet quality assurance standards.
  • Execute Functional, System/e2e, Integration, and release regression testing.
  • Maintain test environments and oversee deployments.
  • Document all issues found during testing in detail.
  • Communicate with Scrum team members to track issues to resolution.
  • Assist in the creation of test project status reports and metrics.
  • Develop interface testing plans to validate system interfaces.
  • Maintain automated regression suites and/or smoke test suites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Assurance verifying Systems Integration, web services testing, and client-server application testing.
  • Experience developing test plans, leading test events, and preparing test reports.
  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Experience with project & task management, and test management software such as TPO, JIRA, or qTest.
  • Experience with Java Test Automation platforms and Oracle/SQL.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting from system log files.
  • Desire to collaborate with cross-functional teams and learn new technical skills.
  • Availability for occasional domestic and international travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Supply Chain Software Products such as WES, WMS, WCS.
  • Experience with Unix utilities.
  • Previous Java programming experience.
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Serenity, JMeter, and Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with Grafana plug-ins for measuring key performance indicators.
