About the position

The Software Quality Assurance (SWQA) Engineer will be part of the SWQA Group, collaborating closely with the software design team to support the software development lifecycle. This role involves reviewing software requirements, monitoring validation efforts, and executing the SWQA process to ensure compliance with development standards. The engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting software testing activities, ensuring that all released software meets quality standards and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and communicate the overall validation project status to project stakeholders.
  • Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
  • Perform and document risk analysis.
  • Audit all aspects of the SDLC and usage of ALM tool sets.
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs.
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., developers and project leaders) to identify system requirements.
  • Manage meetings & group processes to enhance problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Monitor debugging process results.
  • Perform frequent reviews on quality system for compliance with stated requirements.
  • Prepare reports summarizing quality status of various development processes.
  • Investigate causes of non-conforming software and train users to implement solutions.
  • Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts.
  • Stay up-to-date with new tools and test strategies.
  • Coach others on work-related interactions and contributions to quality standards.
  • Help prioritize short-term activities around work team/functional priorities.
  • Effectively solicit and share complex information within and across work teams.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience in software quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Hands-on experience with automated testing tools.
  • Keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence.
  • Knowledge of software development processes using CMMI, Automotive SPICE, TS16949, and ISO26262.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work concurrently on multiple tasks.
  • Superior time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving/analytical abilities.
  • Good understanding of the automotive development process.
  • Experience with electronic control systems.
  • Experience with design specifications and detailed software documentation.
  • Experience interfacing with customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools and Lotus Notes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Nice-to-haves
