About the position

The Software Quality Analyst at Pearson's GED Testing Service plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and functionality of website and mobile app tools designed to help adults achieve their high school equivalency diploma. This position involves creating and maintaining automated tests within an Agile team, collaborating closely with developers and business analysts to enhance application functionality and prevent defects. The role emphasizes a commitment to quality, innovation, and inclusivity in the workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and update test plans and test cases ensuring appropriate test methodology and complete test coverage.
  • Collaborate with developers and business analysts during the full story lifecycle to ensure a shared understanding of application functionality.
  • Build automated tests that validate story-based functional requirements across all supported platforms (android, iPhone, iPad, and desktop).
  • Document and escalate code defects per standard processes.
  • Investigate issues to identify root causes and develop tests to replicate the issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in software quality assurance automation testing.
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies, processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Java or Groovy.
  • Strong knowledge of web application test automation frameworks, such as Selenium, Geb/Spock.
  • Experience with mobile app testing using Appium and third-party mobile device testing using BrowserStack or SauceLabs.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Azure Dev Ops.
  • Understanding of source control using git for branching and merging branches.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server or other relational databases and ability to create queries.
  • Experience with restful services, SOAP, XML, JSON.

Nice-to-haves

  • Performance testing experience.
  • Experience with automated testing in Azure framework.
  • Understanding of inheritance.
  • Experience with page object model.
