About the position

The Software Quality and Testing Manager at Ergotron, Inc. is responsible for overseeing all software testing and quality assurance efforts within the Software Engineering department. This role emphasizes proactive leadership in testing software during development, ensuring adherence to rigorous stage-gate practices to deliver high-quality software. The manager will guide teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), mentor staff, and influence decision-making to ensure flawless product releases.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design and development of test plans, testing routines, and procedures.
• Manage software quality initiatives and make real-time decisions throughout the organization.
• Lead the creation of processes and procedures for new product testing, guiding cross-functional teams through complex challenges.
• Supervise the documentation and evaluation of test results.
• Manage the design, development, and implementation of automated testing tools.
• Prioritize and plan testing activities, allocating resources efficiently to meet project deadlines.
• Provide strategic feedback to Software Engineering development teams.
• Monitor and track bugs and defects, and lead efforts to aid the Software Engineering Team in troubleshooting complex issues.
• Oversee processes to identify software bugs and glitches throughout the SDLC.
• Train and guide teams in identifying and isolating complex errors and failures, fostering skill development.
• Partner with engineers and cross-functional teams to drive QA initiatives.
• Track, analyze, and report on software quality metrics.
• Oversee software performance testing.
• Lead efforts to develop functional and complex specifications for automated tests.
• Develop and manage detailed software testing project plans, ensuring alignment with global organizational priorities, scopes and timelines.
• Supervise and coordinate regression testing processes.
• Oversee the execution of all testing activities and test cases, directing teams under varying and complex conditions.
• Review and analyze software specifications.
• Provide oversight of Manual QA test planning and execution.
• Drive Automated QA test planning and execution.
• Lead Functional QA test planning and execution.
• Ensure all software bugs are identified and documented for the Software Engineering department before release.
• Manage QA-related budgets and resource allocation, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.

Requirements

• ISTQB Certification
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred; equivalent certifications and experience will be considered.
• Minimum 5 years of experience testing desktop, mobile, and firmware/software applications, with proficiency in manual and automated testing.
• Strong decision-making skills and analytical expertise, with a focus on driving innovation in QA processes.
• Proven leadership in guiding and mentoring teams to solve complex testing challenges.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to influence teams.
• Proficiency in creating and overseeing software testing project plans, ensuring milestones are met.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a focus on quality and efficiency.
