About the position

The Software Quality Assurance Tester (Systems Analyst V) at the Texas Education Agency is responsible for performing advanced systems analysis and leading the Quality Assurance (QA) team. This role involves planning, budgeting, and analyzing user requirements to enhance existing systems and automate processes. The tester ensures that all software developed meets defined requirements through thorough testing and documentation, contributing to the overall quality of TEA systems used by various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed analysis and review of all available requirements to design test strategies and create detailed test plans and test cases/scripts.
• Conduct thorough testing of applications in the test environment, including functional, regression, accessibility, and exploratory testing.
• Participate in the design and planning of automation for applications, identifying critical test scenarios to automate.
• Communicate regularly with project managers, technical leads, and team members about testing tasks and results, providing status updates and proposing corrective actions as needed.
• Train other team members to enhance productivity and independence, and create how-to documents for team use.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university.
• At least five years of experience in testing complex web applications.
• Skilled in analyzing complex requirement documents and creating detailed test cases.
• Knowledge of working in an agile development environment and following agile processes.
• Ability to prioritize work based on criticality while managing multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Oracle 10g or greater SQL based language.
• Experience with Selenium or other functional automation tools.
• Experience with WAPT PRO or other performance testing tools.
