About the position

TekSynap is seeking a Software Quality & Testing Specialist to join our team supporting the DOI BSEE TIMS contract in New Orleans, LA. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and reliability of software products and services that support the management of the nation's offshore energy, minerals, and natural resources on the Federal Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) promotes safety, protects the environment, and conserves resources offshore through rigorous regulatory oversight and enforcement. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating test scenarios and plans, executing tests, and developing automated test scripts to ensure that all software meets the required standards before deployment. In this position, you will utilize static code analysis tools to identify and eliminate known vulnerabilities during the development process. You will also provide necessary training and instruction to business personnel to facilitate effective testing. Tracking test results and defects is essential to ensure that all issues are resolved before the software is released. Additionally, you will develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance and configuration management programs that support a variety of software, hardware, and IT services. This role requires collaboration with various functional groups to resolve quality assurance and configuration management issues, ensuring adherence to government directives, standards, and guidelines throughout the software lifecycle. Responsibilities

  • Create test scenarios and a test plan that will include all required information to successfully execute test events.
  • Create automated test scripts based on the appropriate test plans.
  • Execute required tests after generating the necessary test data and transactions in test environments to exercise applicable data values.
  • Utilize static code analysis tools to eliminate known vulnerabilities during development.
  • Provide the necessary training and instruction for business personnel to complete testing.
  • Identify and resolve issues identified during testing.
  • Track test results and defects to ensure resolution.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance/configuration management programs in support of a variety of software, hardware, and IT services.
  • Develop and define major and minor characteristics of quality/configuration management including metrics and scoring parameters.
  • Conduct or participate in formal and informal reviews at predetermined points throughout the system life cycle.
  • Serve as liaison between Program Management and other functional groups to resolve issues regarding quality assurance/configuration management.
  • Review and evaluate software products and services for adherence to government directives, standards, and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • 2 years of specialized experience in a functional area of expertise.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • DOI Background Investigation, Entry on Duty.
