About the position

The Software Sound Engineer at FlightSafety International is responsible for creating mixed reality software solutions that enhance training environments by integrating physical and virtual elements. This role involves collaborating with various hardware and software components to develop and maintain sound applications for aircraft simulators, ensuring high-quality audio experiences for users. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of software development processes, including design, testing, and user support, within an agile team environment.

Responsibilities

• Create mixed reality software solutions for realistic training environments.
• Integrate 3rd party headsets and VR/AR/MR hardware into training devices.
• Engage in all facets of software development including communication, requirements assessment, research, design, development, testing, integration, peer review, documentation, maintenance, and end user support.
• Design and test aircraft simulator sound software applications using C/C++.
• Perform 1/3 octave and narrow-band analysis of aircraft recordings for software implementation.
• Create and maintain software and hardware documentation.
• Conduct 1/3 octave tests and tune sound simulations to FAA/JAA tolerances.
• Provide on-site support for simulator installation and certification efforts.

Requirements

• Algorithm development and object-oriented design experience.
• Narrow Band and 3rd Octave Signal Analysis expertise.
• Embedded Systems Programming experience.
• Audio Systems experience.
• Real-time audio processing skills.
• Tuning and integration capabilities.
• Audio DSP knowledge.
• Experience in Lean/Agile software development.
