About the position

Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced Software Technical Writer to join our platform product group. This role is pivotal in generating and maintaining high-quality technical documentation that is user-focused and essential for our engineering and developer audiences. As a Technical Writer, you will collaborate closely with users to understand their interactions with our products, identify gaps in their understanding, and create documentation that effectively bridges those gaps. Your work will be foundational in setting the tone and quality standards for all written artifacts, ensuring that front-line decision-makers have access to the best tools and information regarding Anduril systems. In this position, you will be responsible for producing a variety of written content artifacts, including user guides, release notes, troubleshooting guides, and API documentation. You will partner with engineering, product management, and business teams throughout all phases of product development—from initial need-finding to execution and field testing—to ensure that users have the right documentation available at the right time. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape Anduril's product documentation experience from the ground up, contributing to a small and dynamic team that values innovation and excellence in technical writing. Your mission will be to create exceptionally written and presented documentation while building world-class infrastructure and tooling for maintaining our documentation content at scale. You will also contribute to the development of Anduril's technical writing toolkit, which includes style guides and documentation lifecycle processes, ensuring that our documentation is not only informative but also engaging and user-friendly.

Responsibilities

• Build partnerships across the business to understand our users and products, focusing on services built and supported by the platform software product group.
• Generate, review, and edit user-focused documentation of the highest quality.
• Contribute to Anduril's technical writing toolkit, including style guides and documentation lifecycle processes.
• Collaborate with engineering to develop a user-facing documentation surface area and internal infrastructure that encourages contributions to documentation.

Requirements

• 2+ years of demonstrated excellence in generating technical documentation for an opinionated audience.
• Experience reading and interpreting API documentation.
• Basic development proficiency, applying software development best practices to documentation systems.
• A passion for excellent documentation and user experiences.
• Clear and persuasive writing and in-person communication skills for a variety of audiences.
• Ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, managing competing demands and occasional tight deadlines.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information.
