About the position

Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced Software Technical Writer to join our platform product group. This role is pivotal in generating and maintaining engineering and developer-focused technical documentation that is essential for our defense technology products. As a Technical Writer, you will collaborate closely with users to understand their interactions with our products, identify gaps in their understanding, and utilize documentation to bridge those gaps. Your contributions will be foundational in establishing the tone and quality standards for our written materials. In this position, you will be responsible for creating a variety of written content artifacts, including user guides, release notes, troubleshooting guides, and API documentation. You will work in partnership with engineering, product management, and business teams throughout all phases of product development—from initial need-finding to execution and field testing—to ensure that users have access to the right documentation at the right time. Your mission is to streamline this process, ensuring that the documentation is not only informative but also exceptionally well-written and presented. This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, dynamic team and help shape the documentation experience at Anduril from the ground up. You will play a critical role in ensuring that front-line decision-makers have the best tools and information available regarding Anduril systems, thereby contributing to the overall mission of enhancing U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology.

Responsibilities

• Build partnerships across the business to understand our users and products, focusing on services built and supported by the platform software product group.
• Generate, review, and edit user-focused documentation of the highest quality.
• Contribute to Anduril's technical writing toolkit, including style guides and the documentation lifecycle and review process.
• Collaborate with engineering to develop a user-facing documentation surface area and internal infrastructure that encourages contributions to documentation.

Requirements

• 2+ years of demonstrated excellence in generating technical documentation for an opinionated audience.
• Experience reading and interpreting API documentation.
• Basic development proficiency, applying software development best practices to documentation systems.
• A passion for excellent documentation and user experiences.
• Clear and persuasive writing and in-person communication skills for a variety of audiences.
• Ability to thrive with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, managing competing demands and occasional tight deadlines.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information.
