About the position

The Software Test Automation Manager at Boston Scientific is responsible for leading a team of software automation test engineers to develop tools and automation solutions for the OPAL Mapping System software. This role involves ensuring product quality and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory standards. The manager will collaborate with various teams throughout the product development lifecycle, drive continuous improvement in testing processes, and provide technical direction and mentoring to staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software automation test engineers.
  • Recruit, guide, coach, and develop staff while driving best practices.
  • Define test objectives, scope, and strategies to ensure product quality.
  • Drive functional initiatives and deliver high-quality functional deliverables.
  • Review defects, test cases, test protocols, and reports.
  • Hands-on execution of test cases/test protocols as needed.
  • Review and/or approve design history file documentation in support of design controls.
  • Lead a team to achieve business goals and ensure design deliverables are met.
  • Evaluate testing progress for projects to meet key milestones.
  • Interact with internal/external customers, responding to requests.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring department budgets, equipment, schedules, and resources.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify new capabilities and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates and phase reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of software test engineer or related experience, or 5+ years with a master's degree.
  • 3+ years of management experience or equivalent expertise.
  • Experience with design and development of test automation frameworks.
  • Strong programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C, or C++.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities in managing teams and projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of software development life cycle and test methodology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proven leadership skills in software testing, preferably in the medical device domain.
  • Working knowledge of test automation under Linux/Unix environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to document processes.
  • Experience in Agile Scrum development environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic equipment in a lab setting.
  • Familiarity with ISO and FDA documentation and compliance for medical devices.
