In this role, you will join a world-class team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers responsible for further development and enhancement of the globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform within the Surgical Operating unit. As a Software Test Engineer II working in the Seaport District of Boston, MA, you will utilize your growing understanding of software verification techniques for medical or other regulated systems. You will continue to develop your understanding of the software architecture, learning test strategies, and gaining hands-on experience in developing, executing, and releasing software tests in compliance with regulatory standards. As a junior member of the Controls Verification team, you will be fully engaged with an Agile scrum team and will directly work on the verification of the control software for the instrumentation's robotic subsystem. This role involves hands-on development of automated and manual tests to verify the sophisticated embedded real-time platform and the instrument control software for the operation of the embedded actuator and sensor hardware. Additionally, you will support the electromechanical verification of core surgical instruments, including stapling and ligature instruments, along with the corresponding control software. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute software tests in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Engage with an Agile scrum team to verify control software for robotic subsystems.
  • Create automated and manual tests for embedded real-time platforms.
  • Support electromechanical verification of surgical instruments and their control software.
  • Manage, track, and upgrade multiple hardware and software configurations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
  • Entry to medium level Python or C++ coding ability.
  • Entry level MATLAB and/or Simulink experience.
  • Experience with Medical Product verification and FDA guidance.
  • Basic understanding of creating test protocols for verifying software requirements.
  • Experience in manual test or automated test script development and execution.
  • Experience testing medical devices controlled by software.
  • Good communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
