About the position

The Software Test Engineer II is responsible for developing detailed test procedures and performing functionality testing on new software releases and hardware. This role focuses on inter sprint/release verification and developing release-level testing plans. The engineer will work closely with software engineers to provide feedback on functionality and assist in documenting new features for training and production transition.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document test procedures for software applications and configurations.
• Design and implement test plans and automated test procedures and scripts.
• Execute manual and automated testing of software applications and configurations.
• Analyze test results and conduct defect isolation through data-mining and comparative analysis.
• Document results and provide interpretive analysis presentations to management.
• Assist with documenting new build/upgrade procedures for software releases.
• Work with Operations to transition documentation for Production sign-off.
• Collaborate with internal and external design/test teams to identify problems.
• Provide technical support for Operations regarding new product installations.
• Produce periodic status and operational reports.
• Document, prioritize, and manage bugs found during testing.
• Ensure engineering groups address/fix bugs according to priority.
• Provide on-site testing/support or phone support during alpha/beta testing phases.
• Communicate monitoring/tracking statistics for alpha/beta sites.
• Lead documentation of troubleshooting and training support information for new releases.
• Be available after hours for on-call support and travel for support issues as needed.
• Write complex scripts for data retrieval or software deployment.
• Drive improvements to testing processes and procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of relevant experience or eight years in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of professional experience in software testing, including manual and automated testing expertise.
• Intermediate skills in developing code for automation solutions.
• Excellent time-management skills and commitment to deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Willingness to work varied hours as necessary.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with effective task prioritization.
• Experience working in agile environments.
• Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools, especially JIRA.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Digital Solutions for Hospitality and Health Care.
• Device/Hardware testing experience.
• CSTE certification.
• Experience with test management tools such as Xray.
