About the position

Knight Federal Solutions is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support various government programs in Simulation and Training, Information Technology, Intelligence, and Cyber Security. The role involves identifying system requirements, acting as a Scrum Master, and ensuring that documentation aligns with customer needs. The ideal candidate will contribute to team briefings, assist in design reviews, and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Identify system requirements and translate and decompose those needs into actionable technical requirements, test criteria, and scenarios
• Act as program-level Scrum Master and execute Agile Scrum events
• Write detailed use cases for real-world client scenarios to support tests and evaluation, including identifying edge conditions
• Contribute to team briefings through the creation of workflow and other diagrams, drafting slides and content, and reviewing the work of other team members
• Assist with editing documentation to ensure it aligns with customer needs and that it is easy to use and understandable
• Participate in design reviews and testing to act as a customer intermediary as needed
• Guide the technical team for sprint planning
• Provide regular metrics and schedule updates to both internal and external stakeholders
• Conduct tracking of tasks and backlog grooming in JIRA

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of working experience or a master's degree and 3+ years' experience, or a high school diploma and 9 years of relevant experience
• College degree is relevant in the respective field
• Working knowledge in systems engineering
• Working knowledge of UNIX
• Previous C# software experience
• Experience developing task plans
• Holding an active Security + certification
• Must hold an active DoD Secret Security clearance

Nice-to-haves

• Operational or development knowledge of training systems is a plus but not required
• Experience with JIRA and Subversion is a plus but not required
