About the position

GovCIO is currently seeking a Software Tester to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and functionality of our software deliverables. The Software Tester will be responsible for creating comprehensive test plans and executing thorough testing procedures to validate that our products meet specified requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software testing, with the ability to design, develop, and implement effective testing methods and equipment. In this position, you will be tasked with planning and arranging the necessary labor, schedules, and equipment for testing and evaluating software products. You will design test cases and scenarios, compile data, and report any defects or issues that arise during the testing process. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with the development and requirements teams to ensure that applications are tested effectively. Your role will also involve performing analysis and diagnostics on products, developing testing procedures, and producing detailed reports on test activities and metrics. Continuous improvement of testing processes will be a key focus, as you will monitor and analyze failures and throughput to enhance overall testing efficiency. This position requires a proactive approach to testing and a meticulous eye for detail, ensuring that all software deliveries align with proposed functionalities. Automated testing may be utilized based on the discretion of the hiring manager, and you will be expected to implement and adhere to established testing processes throughout your work.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment to ensure that the product will perform to specifications.
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating the product.
  • Designs test cases for test plans and creates test scenarios in which tests are carried out.
  • Compiles data, defines required changes and reports defects and problems that occurred during the test process.
  • Implements and participates in the walkthrough of the product.
  • Consults with the development and/or requirements team to coordinate and test applications.
  • Performs analysis, diagnostics and preliminary evaluations of products.
  • Develops testing procedures.
  • Develops test plans, scripts, scenarios, functional tests, regression tests, and deployment tests.
  • Implements the testing processes and ensures all test activities follow those processes.
  • Produces reports on each test activity and tracks test metrics.
  • Monitors for continual test process improvement through failure analysis, throughput analysis, yield analysis, and report to management periodically.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 - 5 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Ability to create test plans using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in testing and scrutinizing software deliveries as they pertain to proposed functionality.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
