About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Software Tester to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality and functionality of our software deliverables. As a Software Tester, you will be responsible for creating comprehensive test plans and executing thorough testing procedures to validate software performance against specifications. You will design, develop, and implement various testing methods and equipment, ensuring that all products meet the required standards before deployment. In this position, you will plan and arrange the necessary labor, schedules, and equipment for testing and evaluating software products. You will create detailed test cases and scenarios, compile data, and report any defects or issues that arise during the testing process. Your role will also involve consulting with development and requirements teams to coordinate application testing, performing analysis and diagnostics, and developing testing procedures that align with best practices. You will be expected to produce reports on each test activity, track test metrics, and monitor for continual improvement in testing processes through various analyses. This position requires a meticulous approach to testing, ensuring that all software deliveries align with proposed functionalities and meet the high standards set by GovCIO.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment to ensure that the product will perform to specifications.
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating the product.
  • Designs test cases for test plans and creates test scenarios in which tests are carried out.
  • Compiles data, defines required changes and reports defects and problems that occurred during the test process.
  • Implements and participates in the walkthrough of the product.
  • Consults with the development and/or requirements team to coordinate and test applications.
  • Performs analysis, diagnostics and preliminary evaluations of products.
  • Develops test plans, scripts, scenarios, functional tests, regression tests, and deployment tests.
  • Implements the testing processes and ensures all test activities follow those processes.
  • Produces reports on each test activity and tracks test metrics.
  • Monitors for continual test process improvement through failure analysis, throughput analysis, yield analysis, and report to management periodically.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 - 5 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Ability to create test plans using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in testing and scrutinizing software deliveries.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
