About the position

GovCIO is seeking a Software Tester to join our team in a fully remote capacity within the United States. The Software Tester will be responsible for creating comprehensive test plans and thoroughly testing software deliverables to ensure they meet specified requirements. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing testing methods and equipment to validate product performance against specifications. The Software Tester will plan and arrange the necessary labor, schedules, and equipment for testing and evaluating products, ensuring that all testing activities are conducted efficiently and effectively. In this position, the Software Tester will design test cases for test plans and create test scenarios in which tests are executed. They will compile data, define required changes, and report any defects or issues that arise during the testing process. The role also includes implementing and participating in product walkthroughs, with the potential for automated testing based on the hiring manager's discretion. Collaboration with the development and requirements teams is essential to coordinate and test applications effectively. The Software Tester will perform analysis, diagnostics, and preliminary evaluations of products, developing testing procedures that align with best practices. They will be responsible for creating test plans, scripts, scenarios, functional tests, regression tests, and deployment tests. Ensuring that all test activities adhere to established testing processes is crucial, and the Software Tester will produce reports on each test activity while tracking test metrics. Continuous improvement of testing processes will be monitored through failure analysis, throughput analysis, and yield analysis, with periodic reporting to management.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment to ensure that the product will perform to specifications.
  • Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating the product.
  • Designs test cases for test plans and creates test scenarios in which tests are carried out.
  • Compiles data, defines required changes and reports defects and problems that occurred during the test process.
  • Implements and participates in the walkthrough of the product.
  • Consults with the development and/or requirements team to coordinate and test applications.
  • Performs analysis, diagnostics and preliminary evaluations of products.
  • Develops testing procedures.
  • Develops test plans, scripts, scenarios, functional tests, regression tests, and deployment tests.
  • Implements the testing processes and ensures all test activities follow those processes.
  • Produces reports on each test activity and tracks test metrics.
  • Monitors for continual test process improvement through failure analysis, throughput analysis, yield analysis, and report to management periodically.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 2 - 5 years of experience or commensurate experience.
  • Ability to create test plans using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in testing and scrutinizing software deliveries as they pertain to proposed functionality.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
