About the position

Kord Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of KBR, is currently seeking a Software Tester to join our team in Huntsville, AL. This full-time position is integral to the High Energy Laser (HEL) program, where the selected candidate will be responsible for documenting and performing tests on a Mobile Ground Weapons Platform that incorporates various Electro-Mechanical subsystems. These subsystems include the High Energy Laser Weapons Subsystem (HEL), Thermal Management System (TMS), Electrical Power Distribution Subsystem (EPDS), Inertial Navigation and Global Positioning Subsystems (GPS & INS), threat acquisition and targeting subsystem, and the on-board communications network. The Software Tester will engage in manual testing to ensure that the software developed meets the required standards and is fit for purpose. This role involves a comprehensive analysis of software and systems to mitigate risks and prevent software issues. The candidate will be expected to follow established test plans and procedures, independently set up test environments, and execute manual test cases. The position requires a strong understanding of user stories and use cases to validate and assess their feasibility, ensuring that all testing levels, including System, Integration, and Regression testing, are performed effectively. Additionally, the Software Tester will provide detailed documentation and evidence of test results, deploy programs, evaluate user feedback, and detect and track software defects and inconsistencies throughout the Agile product life-cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing user stories and use cases/requirements for validity and feasibility
  • Understand and follow test plans and test procedures
  • Independently setup test environments and network configurations
  • Write and execute manual test cases
  • Map test cases to requirements for traceability
  • Perform all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression)
  • Provide detailed documentation and evidence of test results
  • Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
  • Detect and track software defects and inconsistencies
  • Apply quality engineering principles throughout the Agile product life-cycle

Requirements

  • BS degree in relevant field
  • Minimum of 4 years of SW Test experience
  • Experience in documenting requirements and specifications
  • Proficiency in engineering tools: Primarily Azure DevOps
  • Proficiency in network packet analysis (e.g. Wireshark)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain a Secret Security Clearance
