About the position

KBR's Defense Systems Engineering, Naval Solutions Division is seeking a Software Application Tester with a Secret Clearance to join our team. The successful candidate will be part of a talented software team responsible for developing and maintaining mission-critical applications. The primary responsibility of this role will be software testing, which includes writing and peer reviewing test cases, as well as evaluating the software applications. The candidate will participate in the full software development lifecycle, ensuring that high-quality software is delivered that meets stakeholder requirements. The Software Tester will design, develop, review, and execute test plans and procedures for mission-critical systems to ensure high quality and performance. This role will contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle in support of team objectives. The candidate will design tests that ensure compliance with specifications and validate releases of software components, including services and user interfaces. Additionally, the candidate will support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies to enhance test coverage and automation. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for interacting with technical and non-technical personnel. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow established business processes is crucial. The candidate should be able to quickly learn and understand software application requirements and possess excellent communication, writing, and editing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, review, and execute test plans and procedures for mission-critical systems to ensure high-quality and performance.
  • Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle in support of team objectives.
  • Design tests that ensure the software is in compliance with specifications.
  • Validate releases of software components (services, user interface, etc.).
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies to improve test coverage and test automation.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Work well with others and follow business processes.
  • Quickly learn and grasp software application requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must currently hold a DoD Secret Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain & maintain Secret Security Clearance.
  • BS/BA degree and 1 year of experience as a software application tester, performing software test activities.
  • Additional experience is accepted in lieu of a BS degree (8+ years for those with a high school diploma, 4+ for those with an associate degree).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Agile and SAFe software development methodology.
  • Experience working in a software development environment, utilizing applications such as Azure DevOps, Telerik, Docker, Turbo on Windows, Virtual Machines/Desktops.
  • Experience with test automation tools and techniques.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Teams.
  • Military background/knowledge/SME.
