About the position

The Software Tester at Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) will support the United States Space Force (USSF) by developing software solutions for the Space Systems Command (SSC) Cyber Operations Branch. This role focuses on the rapid agile development of defensive cyber solutions to protect against cyber threats in both ground and space environments. The position emphasizes adherence to the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and DevSecOps principles, ensuring security is integrated throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Analyze test results and coordinate with development teams for bug fixes.
• Analyze the underlying causes of performance issues and provide corrective action.
• Develop an automated test scenario and environment for performance testing.
• Review and recommend improvements in existing test procedures.
• Coordinate with the testing team to develop performance test plans and cases.
• Use web methods like GET, PUT, POST, DELETE, etc.
• Validate XML and JSON body using JSON parser.
• Utilize OAuth and OAuth2 authentication mechanisms.
• Conduct load and security testing on web services.
• Design and develop test automation scripts to create, enhance, debug, and run test cases.
• Research issues in software through testing to validate feedback, response time, and error code.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, software development, or a STEM-related specialty and 10 years of related professional experience; or a Master's degree in the same fields with 8 years of related experience.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance; Top Secret (TS) security clearance is highly desired.
• SAFe for Teams, Agile Technical Tester, & Implementing Test Process Improvement certifications within 12 months of start date.
• Programming Languages: Java, Angular, Gitlab, RHEL, JIRA, Confluence, Zephyr, and Python.
• Experience or knowledge in Agile methodologies, agile project management, software development life cycle management, program/project management, cross-functional teams, agile software testing, test-driven development, software test planning, and software test automation.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with SIMP Project, Docker, GIT, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Suricata, Zeek, Kibana, Logstash, Elastic Search, Neo4J, PostgreSQL.
• Relevant DoD and/or Industry work experience in Space Systems Command.
• Experience with Cyber Operations Branch (SSC/SZYO) program office.
• Experience with DoD/defense software factories.
