About the position

The Software Tester position at DCS Corporation involves working within a small team to ensure software components meet business and system requirements. The role emphasizes collaboration in a fast-paced Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment, where contributions are valued and can lead to significant changes. The tester will engage in various testing activities, including writing test plans, executing tests, and reporting defects, while also having opportunities for professional growth and development within a supportive employee-owned company.

Responsibilities

  • Test various software components to ensure they meet business and system requirements.
  • Effectively communicate, document, and track system-related issues until resolution.
  • Utilize principles of systems engineering to analyze and recommend solutions.
  • Write and review test plans and detailed test cases for manual testing of web applications.
  • Build and configure test environments.
  • Execute tests in both informal and formal witnessed test environments.
  • Perform software and system level testing on product builds.
  • Report detailed defects and prepare Test Reports.
  • Provide test status to project team and stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively in an integrated SAFe Agile team environment.
  • Actively participate in reviews and answer customer questions at the end of an iteration.
  • Prepare for and actively participate in Program Increment System Demonstrations.
  • Desire to learn automation testing.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
  • Minimum of a High School diploma plus 10 years of related experience, Associate's degree in related field plus 4 years of experience, Bachelor's degree in related field plus 2 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 1 year of experience.
  • Able to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of the software development processes.
  • Ability to test and assure quality of software, and work with users of software in group or individual settings.
  • Ability to multi-task between multiple projects.
  • Experience with source control and defect tracking software tools.
  • Experience with virtualization technology, creating and using Windows-based virtual machines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with the SAFe Agile Framework.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mission planning needs of military aviators.
  • Experience with using Azure DevOps.
