About the position

KBR's Defense Systems Engineering, Naval Solutions Division is seeking a Mid-Level Software Tester to join a talented software team responsible for developing and maintaining mission-critical applications. The role primarily involves software testing, including writing and peer reviewing test cases, evaluating software applications, hardware testing, data validation, and automated testing. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality software delivery that meets stakeholder requirements, while working in a hybrid environment with a mix of in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, review, and execute test plans and procedures for mission-critical systems to ensure high-quality and performance.
  • Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle in support of team objectives.
  • Design tests that ensure the software is in compliance with specifications.
  • Validate releases of software components (services, user interface, etc.).
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies to improve test coverage and implement test automation.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment and follow business processes.
  • Quickly learn and grasp software application requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must currently hold a DoD Secret Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain & maintain Secret Security Clearance.
  • BS/BA degree and 5 years of experience as a software application tester, OR AA/AS and 9 years of experience, OR High School Diploma and 13 years of experience as a software application tester.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3 years of automated test experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile and SAFe software development methodology.
  • Experience working in a software development environment, utilizing applications such as Azure DevOps, Telerik, Docker, Turbo on Windows, Virtual Machines/Desktops.
  • Experience with test automation tools and techniques.
  • Data Validation experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Teams.
  • Military aviation background/knowledge/SME.
