About the position

Focused Support LLC is seeking a part-time Software Tester to join their small, dynamic team in Columbia, MD. The role involves contributing to all aspects of software testing, including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, and testing. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and eager to learn, working with various programming languages and technologies to ensure the quality of software products.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as part of a small test team involved in all aspects of software testing.
• Manually test software systems to ensure functionality and performance.
• Build, maintain, and run automated testing processes.
• Build, test, and maintain mock environments for testing purposes.
• Document product features, tests, and other processes for clarity and future reference.
• Communicate status updates to the product lead and other stakeholders.
• Write code when not performing other testing duties.

Requirements

• Familiarity with the software test and development life cycle.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks and tools like jQuery, Backbone, Angular, Selenium, and Leaflet.
• Familiarity with software development tools such as Eclipse, Git, Jenkins, Jira, and Ant.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to new environments.
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Flexibility to adjust to changing needs and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated and a team player.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in software development (1 year preferred).
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
