About the position

A&R Solar is seeking a Solar and Storage Design Consultant (SDC) to join our team in Tualatin, OR. As a leading solar installer in the Pacific Northwest, we are committed to creating a cleaner environment through solar energy production. The SDC will play a crucial role in advancing our impact by consistently meeting performance targets in a fast-paced and evolving industry. This position involves direct interaction with potential customers throughout the sales life cycle, requiring a blend of strong interpersonal skills and technical fluency to design, price, and sell custom residential solar and storage projects. In this role, you will be part of a high-performing team that values empathy, respect, and cooperation, all aimed at enhancing the customer experience. You will be responsible for converting company-provided leads into projects, effectively communicating with leads to understand their goals, and constructing persuasive value propositions. Additionally, you will need to stay updated on products, warranties, codes, and incentive programs to ensure accurate pricing and design of projects. A successful SDC will also maintain Salesforce CRM records and participate in community events to support long-term marketing strategies. The position requires travel up to 50% to prospective customers' sites in the Portland metro area and other parts of Oregon, making reliable transportation essential. This is a full-time role with a base salary starting at $30,000, with the potential for top performers to earn $150,000 and beyond through a competitive commission structure.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve individual sales and team bonus benchmarks by converting company-provided leads to projects.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with leads to discover their goals and construct persuasive value propositions.
  • Teach technical concepts and negotiate/close sales effectively.
  • Accurately price and design projects, ensuring a quality handoff to the operations team.
  • Stay up-to-date on products, warranties, codes, and incentive programs to maintain expertise.
  • Maintain Salesforce CRM records for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Participate in community events and local organizations to support long-term marketing and engagement strategies.
  • Travel up to 50% to prospective customers' sites in the Portland metro area and other parts of Oregon.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of work experience where you've consistently achieved and exceeded goals under pressure.
  • 2+ years of work experience requiring strong written and verbal communication skills in English, particularly around complex subjects and persuasion.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of people.
  • Highly organized self-starter who can prioritize multiple projects and maintain attention to detail.
  • Creative and innovative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
  • Reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Technical sales experience.
  • NABCEP Certification in PV Technical Sales or other industry certifications.
  • Spanish language skills.
