About the position

The Solar Control Room Operator at Nexamp is responsible for the real-time remote monitoring and operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage assets. This role involves ensuring safe and effective operations, mentoring a team of operators, and developing standard operating procedures as the portfolio grows. The position requires working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with various stakeholders, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Nexamp PV, Storage, and future Microgrid and Utility Scale generation assets in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure safe and effective remote operation of Nexamp's managed portfolio, including ancillary and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment.
  • Identify and react to abnormal operations using critical thinking skills.
  • Supervise and lead a team of Distributed Generation Operators, providing guidance and training.
  • Develop and review SOPs for Utility Scale Assets and Distributed Generation Operators.
  • Optimize operations to maximize revenues while meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with regional transmission operators and site personnel for maintenance and restoration of generation.
  • React to directives and abnormal conditions according to Nexamp processes and SOPs.
  • Record data, log information, and compile reports as required.
  • Conduct remote troubleshooting to diagnose and solve common issues.

Requirements

  • A 2-year degree in Electrical Technology/Engineering (Bachelor's degree preferred) or equivalent knowledge through experience.
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in a generation control room.
  • Advanced computer skills including SCADA system operations and MS Office Suite.
  • Basic knowledge of the Bulk Electric System and high voltage transmission processes.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel to remote sites for work or training activities.
