About the position

The Solar Drafter/Designer position at Black & Veatch is focused on providing technical support and guidance in the design and drafting of solar energy projects. This role involves applying engineering standards, ensuring quality and compliance, and coordinating project deliverables while fostering a collaborative environment. Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of engineering standards, systems, and document control processes to create and modify deliverables.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering professionals, including delegating work assignments.
  • Review design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance with codes and standards.
  • Create and develop design deliverables based on various inputs and perform computations for material quantities and estimates.
  • Coordinate deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and support field activities.
  • Focus on internal client needs while understanding external client interests and drivers.
  • Proactively seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate preferred; Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience, preferably in utility scale solar.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of industry electrical technology trends.
  • Experience with Bentley Microstation 2D/3D, Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, SDS (Physical/P&C) 2D/3D, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent time management, team building, and problem-solving skills.

  • Utility scale solar experience.
