About the position
The Solar & ESS Field Technician is responsible for the maintenance, inspections, and verification of ongoing and existing commercial solar and battery storage projects. This role involves ensuring the operation and maintenance of commercial solar arrays, troubleshooting electrical components, conducting routine preventive maintenance, and maintaining accurate documentation of operations and maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform operation and maintenance functions on commercial solar arrays.
- Troubleshoot electrical components using digital multi-meters and similar equipment.
- Test installed equipment to ensure proper working order through daily inspections.
- Conduct progress, maintenance, and preventative maintenance inspections with thorough reporting.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on solar panels and battery storage systems.
- Conduct drone and handheld infrared thermography inspections as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of O&M activities, including maintenance logs and work orders.
Requirements
- Two years of technical experience or technical education in electrical systems.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience maintaining commercial or utility solar arrays.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Understanding of solar photovoltaic, energy storage, and microgrid applications.
- Ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Experience with PV and electrical systems including DC and AC medium voltage systems.
- Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard practices.
- NABCEP and OSHA 30 certifications preferred.
