About the position

The Solar Field Service Technician, Level I at Pearce Services is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of photovoltaic (PV) solar panel systems. This role emphasizes adherence to safety protocols and environmental compliance while providing technical support and mentoring to team members. The position requires extensive travel and involves troubleshooting and resolving issues related to solar energy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot inverters, combiner boxes, and replace/repair string lines.
  • Perform LOTO, IV Curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, and IR scans.
  • Operate and maintain solar power plants in accordance with established standards and procedures.
  • Lead by example in maintaining safety protocols and professionalism.
  • Troubleshoot solar system problems and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Document work orders, service orders, time logs, and emergency information schedules.
  • Safely operate and maintain the Pearce company vehicle.

Requirements

  • 1+ years' experience on commercial and/or utility scale solar sites.
  • Experience with electrical and power electronics troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures, able to apply NFPA 70E/OSHA 10 training.
  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting electrical components using digital multi-meters, meggers, amp clamps, and similar equipment.
  • Ability to test installed equipment, ensuring proper working order including daily mechanical electrical inspections.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
