About the position

The Solar Performance Improvement Engineer is tasked with enhancing the availability, efficiency, and reliability of EDPR's solar assets. This role involves providing technical support across the organization to promote best practices and achieve operational excellence, while working in a hybrid schedule that includes both office and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Improve solar site performance by providing recommendations regarding availability, efficiency, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and opex issues/initiatives to senior-level EDPR personnel.
  • Manage initiatives aimed to improve the original power curve of the solar sites.
  • Manage cross-platform initiatives between European and North American fleets.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, 3rd party engineers, EDPR engineers, and other industry suppliers to identify fleet performance improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of technical issues in the EDPR solar fleet and propose resolutions.
  • Define required budgets and follow up on identified risks/issues until mitigated.
  • Lead trials of various retrofits to improve solar performance and validate changes.
  • Provide recommendations for fleet-wide implementation plans.
  • Manage solar supplier technical resources to achieve performance improvement targets.
  • Review and coordinate technical aspects of major retrofits and upgrades to ensure reliability.
  • Implement lessons learned on future solar sites and lead continuous improvement processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree is valued.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience with electromechanical systems, preferably in the solar energy industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and understanding of Microsoft products.
  • Proficiency in English; Spanish is valued.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and communication abilities.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering and construction documents.

  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred.
  • Ability to learn wind turbine mechanical functionality and advanced Lean Six Sigma techniques.
