About the position

The Solar Sales Representative will assist commercial building clients in transitioning from conventional energy sources to solar power. This role requires a passion for clean energy and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve shared goals. The position is remote but requires travel throughout Southeast Michigan, and the ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying potential customers, providing tailored solar solutions, and closing sales.

Responsibilities

  • Learn solar technology and become proficient with company proposal software.
  • Identify and pursue potential customers interested in solar energy solutions through cold calling, networking, and attending industry events.
  • Schedule appointments and follow up with prospects to win their business.
  • Develop new business relationships with commercial building owners and enterprises.
  • Tailor solar energy solutions to meet the specific needs of each customer.
  • Provide detailed information about benefits, cost savings, and environmental impact of solar energy systems.
  • Prepare professional presentations for commercial building owners.
  • Conduct in-depth consultations with potential clients to understand their energy needs and assess the feasibility of solar energy solutions.
  • Create and present compelling proposals outlining financial benefits, tax incentives, and ROI of switching to solar energy.
  • Close deals and secure signed contracts for solar energy installations.
  • Address customer concerns and objections with clear and persuasive responses.
  • Provide superior customer service to move customers to advocates for referrals.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, contracts, and customer information.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation are completed accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • 3 years of building sales experience
  • 1 year of successful in-home sales experience
  • Experience in the Solar industry preferred
  • Good understanding of commercial electrical systems, including 3 phase systems
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to convert leads into closed sales consistently
  • Ability to display confidence in sales situations
  • Ability to remain optimistic in challenging situations
  • Comfortable with Outlook, Outlook Calendar, and utilizing CRM tools
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
