About the position

As Scout's Solar Energy Senior Construction Project Manager, you will lead the construction of utility-scale solar projects, mentoring colleagues and shaping best practices in a growing independent power producer (IPP) with an entrepreneurial culture. You will oversee all phases of facility construction, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, while also managing multiple work streams and communicating effectively with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the construction of utility-scale solar projects, including the 161 MWAC Markum project near Waco, TX.
  • Mentor and collaborate with early career construction project managers.
  • Drive process development and document learnings for future solar projects.
  • Ensure safety measures are prioritized and implemented on-site.
  • Manage the schedule, resolve delays, and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Oversee quality control and manage third-party on-site teams.
  • Interface with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to manage construction contracts and costs.
  • Develop and distribute weekly and monthly reports on construction status and cost controls.
  • Coordinate final service acceptance inspections and project closeout activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a relevant technical field.
  • Experience as a project manager on at least 3 utility-scale solar construction projects or 4 projects in a relevant adjacent industry.
  • Experience across all phases of construction, including preconstruction and handoff to operations.
  • Technical familiarity with utility-scale solar construction contracts and civil/electrical work specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and document management systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with Google Earth, ArcGIS, and GlobalMapper.
