Join the StraightUp Solar team and be on the front lines of the Midwest's transition to a clean energy economy! StraightUp Solar is seeking a full-time Solar Service Technician to join our St. Louis, MO team. The Solar Service Technician serves as the troubleshooter and hands-on problem solver for StraightUp Solar's Solar Array Portfolio. This position also manages the customer experience through warranty claims and production questions or concerns. StraightUp Solar is Missouri's longest-running and largest solar installer. Founded and owned in St. Louis, we are a fully-licensed and insured electrical contractor, a BBB A+ business, and B-Corps Certified. We are a turn-key solar PV design & installation firm with 7 in-house installation crews. Our 130 employees in Missouri and Illinois are dedicated exclusively to PV design, installation, operations, and maintenance. StraightUp Solar has installed more than 2,800 solar projects at businesses, homes, schools, farms, churches, and government buildings throughout Missouri and Illinois and has offices in St. Louis, MO, Marion, IL, and Bloomington, IL. Our team of 130 includes 60 NABCEP Certified and Associate-level credential solar professionals. As a Solar Service Technician, you will drive a company vehicle to multiple service calls a day, addressing customer questions and concerns while delivering high levels of customer service. You will be responsible for being a subject-matter expert on processes associated with the installation of PV Systems, including knowing equipment specifications for inverters, batteries, and other major components used in PV arrays. You will also be competent in testing, measuring, and interpreting AC and DC circuits to troubleshoot system performance. This role requires maintaining accurate knowledge of processes and systems that support the service department and completing service ticket paperwork after service visits via a cloud-based database.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a company vehicle to multiple service calls a day: homes, schools, and businesses located across Eastern Missouri, Metro East, and Southern Illinois.
  • Deliver high level of customer service by addressing customers' questions and concerns and effectively communicating system specifications, performance metrics, and variances.
  • Be a subject-matter expert on processes associated with the installation of PV Systems, including knowing equipment specifications for inverters, batteries, and combiner panels.
  • Read 1-line electrical drawings and building plans and maintain a strong understanding of PV design requirements.
  • Test, measure, and interpret AC and DC circuits to troubleshoot system performance.
  • Complete Service Ticket paperwork after service visit via cloud-based database.
  • Communicate with other departments internally as necessary to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of processes and systems that support the service department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of job related experience in solar preferred - OR - 4+ years in other mechanical or electrical service and repair trades (such as HVAC, auto mechanics, cable or telephone systems).
  • Proven track record in effective follow-through and problem resolution.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and prioritizing tasks with minimal errors.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Must be inquisitive and able to research, analyze problems, and make independent decisions.
  • Attention to detail and excellent follow through.
  • Maintain Clean Driving Record and has Reliable Transportation.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend and kneel repeatedly and work at heights.
  • Physically able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Prompt and professional response to customer needs.
  • Positive team attitude.
  • Dependable and on time.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
